In Cameroon, many children grow up without knowing the difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. To them, littering plastics seems normal. They do not see how plastics choke our streams, poison the soil, and threaten the very food they eat. At SRS, we are volunteering to change this by teaching schools and communities about waste segregation, recycling, and biodiversity protection—knowledge that can transform both lives and ecosystems.
At the same time, we walk alongside survivors. Take Glanis, for example—a young girl who became pregnant as a result of rape. With no means to support herself or her baby, she felt abandoned by the very society that should have protected her. Through our programs, we provide survivors like Glanis with the tools to heal, speak out, and rebuild their lives with dignity.
